what we do
smallbites teaches parents, and parents-to-be, how to make healthy, safe and sustainable food choices in a way that saves them time. We teach parents how to give their children the tools they need to develop a healthy relationship with food. And we inspire parents to help their children become great, adventurous eaters.

Scorpions for Breakfast and Snails for Dinner

Sugar Babies

I couple of weeks ago, my sister-in-law Aimee was feeding Ronan (17 months old) dinner for me while I was on my way home from the airport. We thought I’d be home earlier, so there really was no plan for what she should feed him. She happened to find some frozen Happy Baby food in the freezer and decided to defrost some of that for him. When she mentioned to me over the phone that that’s what she was going to give him, I offhandedly said that he probably wouldn’t like it (it’s been a very long time since I fed him pureed food like that). But of course she could definitely try.

Well, when I got home, this is the story I heard from Aimee…

When I was feeding Ronan the food, he was absolutely devouring it. I thought it was interesting how much he was loving it because you had said to me on the phone that he probably wouldn’t go for it. So, I happened to mention to Lucie (4 years old) how much Ronan was liking the food.

And Lucie said:

That’s because I put sugar in it!

Moral of the story? Don’t turn your back on a 4-year-old who’s “cooking.”

truffle snuffle?

Truffle Snuffle

I think that buying your kids food-related toys is a fun way to get them interested in and learning about a variety of different foods. But truffles? I recently came across the Truffle Snuffle from HABA. I truly think this might be the wackiest children’s toy I’ve ever seen. I’m not opposed to it, of course, I just think it’s hysterical.

Feeding Your Baby Telephone Seminar

Come join us this coming Saturday, January 19th from 10:00 – 11:30am ET for a telephonic group seminar of the Small Bites class, Feeding Your Baby (4 months – 1 year).
