Kellogg’s / Viacom Lawsuit

Although this isn’t the most recent news to come out, I think it’s important for me to draw attention to a lawsuit that was recently filed against Kellogg’s and Viacom (Nickelodeon’s parent company). Parents and advocacy groups (Center for Science in the Public Interest (CSPI) and Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood) have filed a lawsuit against the two companies, which claims that these two giants are marketing junk food to kids. No big surprise there! I can tell you that my two-year-old daughter points at almost every box in the cereal aisle at the grocery store and says “movies” because she recognizes many of the characters. Fortunately, she’s still a little too young to request the box of Sugar-Coated Chocolaty Carmel Breakfast Donuts with the picture of Winnie-the-Pooh on the front, but I’m sure that day is right around the corner.
